Terms of Service

The deal

By using TakeMeUp.cv, you agree to these Terms. If you don't, please don't use the service. These Terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy.

TakeMeUp.cv is operated by Bogdan Ionita (sole trader, Bucharest, Romania). Contact: contact@takemeup.cv.

What the service does

TakeMeUp.cv helps you build, optimise, and export a CV. We offer free deterministic tools (ATS check, GDPR check, job-description match, Europass export) and paid AI-assisted tools (rewrite, roast, cover letter, career GPS, summary, aging detector, interview prep, achievement amplifier, translation, LinkedIn pack, authenticity check, career gaps).

Your account

You can use the free tier anonymously. To save your work permanently, subscribe to PRO, or use most paid features, you need an account. Account authentication is provided by Clerk.

You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential. Tell us if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload CVs of people other than yourself, except where you have their explicit permission to do so.
• Use TakeMeUp.cv for unlawful purposes, including circumventing employer screening processes through fraudulent CV claims (we'll cooperate with lawful investigations).
• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or reverse-engineer the service or its outputs at scale.
• Resell access to TakeMeUp.cv or its AI features without our written consent.
• Submit deliberately abusive, hateful, or harassing content to the Roast feature or any other AI input.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

Paid plans, refunds, and cancellation

Pricing is shown on the Pricing page. We offer two product shapes:

• One-shot purchase (€9): download a single CV permanently, plus a 14-day window to download it again. Non-recurring.
• PRO subscription (€12/month or €79/year): unlocks all AI features and 20 CV downloads per month. Recurring until you cancel.

Payment is processed by Stripe. We don't see or store your card number — only Stripe's customer ID and the metadata about your subscription state.

EU 14-day right of withdrawal. Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, EU consumers have 14 days from purchase to request a full refund of a paid plan without giving a reason — UNLESS you've already received digital content (e.g. downloaded a paid CV or used a paid AI feature), in which case you waive the withdrawal right by using the content. Cancel before using any paid surface and email us at contact@takemeup.cv for a refund.

Cancel a PRO subscription anytime from your account → Billing. You keep access until the end of the billing period; we don't pro-rate.

Your content stays yours

You retain all rights to the CV content you create or upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, and display your content solely to operate the service for you. We don't use your CV to train AI models — ours or anyone else's.

When you delete your account or a specific CV, the licence ends. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.

The site and software are ours

The TakeMeUp.cv brand, templates, code, design, and content (other than your user-provided CV content) belong to Bogdan Ionita and are protected by copyright. Don't copy them.

AI features — what to expect

AI-assisted features (Rewrite, Roast, GPS, Cover Letter, Summary, Aging Detector, Interview Prep, Achievement Amplifier, Translation, LinkedIn, Authenticity, Career Gaps, CV parsing) use Anthropic's Claude model. AI output isn't guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or appropriate for any specific role — review it carefully before sending it to a recruiter. We build anti-hallucination guards into paid AI features (e.g. the cover letter never invents metrics), but the final call is yours.

By using an AI feature, you consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) to having the relevant CV content sent to Anthropic for processing. You can withdraw consent any time via account settings; past results aren't affected, future AI calls won't run.

Disclaimers

TakeMeUp.cv is provided "as is". We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will get you a job. We don't guarantee any specific ATS will accept any specific CV format.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Romanian and EU law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of TakeMeUp.cv is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses (lost profits, lost opportunities, etc.).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for things that can't be excluded under EU consumer law (e.g. gross negligence, death, personal injury).

Termination

You can stop using TakeMeUp.cv at any time. Delete your account from the account page; we'll remove your data within 30 days (see Privacy Policy for backup retention).

We can suspend or terminate access for material breach of these Terms after a reasonable warning.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the service changes or to reflect new laws. Material changes (e.g. price increases, new restrictions) will be flagged via email or in-app notice with at least 30 days notice for EU subscribers.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania (where the controller is established). The courts of Bucharest, Romania have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

If you're an EU consumer, you can also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform, or bring proceedings before the courts of your country of residence (mandatory under EU consumer law).
