How work permits in Hungary work
Since the 1 March 2024 overhaul, most non-highly-skilled hiring uses the Employment or Guest Worker Residence Permit, filed on the Enter Hungary platform after a job offer. Both are quota-capped AND restricted to nationalities on a ministerial list (only Armenia, Georgia and the Philippines in 2025–26 — NOT these four countries), so the practical legal route for Nepali, Sri Lankan, Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals is the nationality-open EU Blue Card for highly-qualified work.
The authority you ultimately deal with is the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (OIF). Combined annual cap of 35,000 permits for the Employment + Guest Worker permits (2025 and 2026), but those routes are closed to these four nationalities — the Blue Card has no such cap.
