Project Manager CV Example (2026)

This example is for a project manager with several years of delivery behind them who wants a senior or programme role. It shows how to describe each project by its budget, team, timeline and outcome, and where to put PRINCE2 or APM.

A fictional example: the person, the employers and the contact details are invented. Shown in the Lumen template.

Why this CV works

  • Delivered a £1.8m claims system replacement for 400 users on time and 4% under budget, leading a team of 12 from IT, claims and the supplier.

Budget, scale, team size and result against time and cost: everything a hiring manager wants to know about a project, in one line.

  • Replaced a 40-page plan template with a lighter hybrid approach in Jira and Smartsheet, cutting project start-up from 6 weeks to 3.

Shows she improves how projects are run, not just runs them, with a before-and-after number.

  • Planned the move of 350 staff to a new office over 2 weekends with no lost working days.

A business-critical deadline met with no disruption. Office moves are easy to picture and easy to get wrong.

  • Coordinated 30+ refurbishment projects a year worth £20,000–£250,000 each, keeping schedules, RAID logs and orders up to date.

Volume and value range from a junior role show a solid grounding in the basics of project control.

  • PRINCE2-certified project manager with seven years delivering systems, office and process change in insurance and facilities management.

Certification, years and sectors up front, so the reader knows her level and background in one sentence.

Skills to include

  • Project planning and scheduling
  • Budget and cost control
  • Risk and issue management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Supplier management
  • Change management
  • PRINCE2
  • Agile and hybrid delivery
  • Status reporting

Mistakes to avoid

  • Listing projects without budget, size, team or outcome. Say whether it landed on time and on budget, and by how much.
  • Claiming every method (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, PRINCE2) without showing which ones you have actually used on a project.
  • Describing what the team did without saying what you led yourself: the plan, the risks, the budget or the stakeholders.

Country tip

UK employers often ask for PRINCE2 or an APM qualification for project roles, so list each one with its level (Foundation or Practitioner) and year. In Wales, some public and private sector jobs ask for Welsh: give your level on the CEFR scale. Leave off your photo and date of birth.

Frequently asked questions

What should a project manager CV include?

A short profile, then each role with your biggest projects: budget, team size, timeline and outcome. Add your methods (PRINCE2, Agile), certifications and the tools you plan and report in.

Should I put PRINCE2 on my CV?

Yes, with the level (Foundation or Practitioner) and the year, in a certifications section and in your profile. Many UK job ads filter on it, especially in the public sector.

How do I show project results on a CV?

Name the project, then give its size and the result against plan: on time, under budget, users moved, costs saved. One clear project per bullet reads better than a list of responsibilities.
